Concessions and Rebates
The NSW Government offers various rebates to help with energy bills as part of its Social Program for Energy. If you hold a Pensioner Concession Card, Health Care Card, or DVA Gold Card, you might be eligible. Below is information on how to apply for each rebate. To apply for the Low Income Household Rebate or NSW Gas Rebate, or to update your concession details, please print, complete, and return the Sumo Concession Form.
EAPA Vouchers
If you’re facing difficulty paying your current energy bill due to a short-term financial crisis, such as unexpected medical expenses or income loss from COVID-19, you might be eligible for Energy Accounts Payment Assistance (EAPA) vouchers worth $50 each. Eligibility will be assessed by a NSW Government representative or an approved non-government EAPA provider. For more information, visit the Energy NSW website.
Low Income Household Rebate
This rebate is available to eligible concession cardholders and is applied daily to your electricity bill. The rebate amount depends on the number of days in each billing period.
Family Energy Rebate
The Family Energy Rebate assists households with dependent children who receive the Family Tax Benefit from the Commonwealth Department of Human Services. For more information and to apply, visit the Energy Rebates page.
Life Support Rebate
Households with a member using a qualifying life support machine may receive a quarterly discount on electricity bills through the Life Support Rebate. For more information on eligible machines and to apply, visit the Service NSW website. Complete the application form, which must be signed by your registered medical practitioner to confirm the use of a life support machine.
Medical Energy Rebate
This rebate helps eligible Low Income Household Rebate customers with electricity bills if they, or someone in their household, has a medical condition that prevents them from regulating body temperature. It’s added daily to your electricity bill in addition to the Low Income Household Rebate. For details on qualifying conditions and how to apply, visit the Service NSW website. You’ll need to submit a completed application form signed by your medical practitioner confirming the condition.
